West Toronto Renegades Hockey Club

Minor Hockey focused on the development of young athletes engaged in sport and community leadership

On Saturday January 7, 2017, the West Toronto Renegades Bantam team helped out at the Daily Bread Food Bank sort site on New Toronto Street. In addition to donating to the Daily Bread, the players also spent their time sorting and processing items at the site. By the end of the sort, the Bantam team had sorted and packed over 4,000 pounds of food. That equates to feeding 200 people for 3 days!!

Daily Bread Food Bank is a registered charity that is fighting hunger in our communities. Every year thousands of people across Toronto rely on food banks. A distribution hub, Daily Bread provides food and support to almost 200 food programs across Toronto and is the largest provider of food relief in the GTA.

The West Toronto Renegades 2003 “A” team travelled to Detroit, Michigan, the weekend of November 4-6, 2016 for the annual Motown Cup Tournament. Over five games of play, the boys went undefeated while goalies Nicholas Taglieri and Domenico Zentena shut-out the opposition three times. The persistent training of second year Coach Alex Kot paid off in solid team defense and fore-check in each game, culminating in the defeat of their league rival Humber Valley Sharks in the finals. Joey Furlano earned the honours as the tournament MVP with his usual aggressive play up front. Most importantly, the West Toronto teammates and their parents continued to build relationships that will surely translate into productive and gentlemanly conduct on and off the ice in the rest of their GTHL season.
